The 100-seater Concorde was, and still remains, the world’s only supersonic passenger aircraft. It is capable of flying at Mach 2.2, more than twice the speed of sound and at altitudes of up to 18 kilometres. At this speed and height the Concorde seems to hang motionless in the sky, the only sensation of movement being the shifting, curved horizon. Its dream-like performance is the closest thing to space travel the travelling public can experience. (more…)
